Saturday night was a pretty miserable night to be out hunting in north Texas, but being out with friends really took the edge off the cold, rain, mud, mist, and fog. With the exception of one sow, everything happened in and around the pecan groves up in Clay County. Alex got us on to the hogs and most of the action was caught on video. We had five good stalks that netted 12 hogs, plus 7 fetal piglets from a sow that just came apart under withering fire. We started around 7 pm and finally finished up around 5 am. If that wasn't good enough, somewhere in the middle of the night between stalks, the guys broke out boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Nothing like a few thousand extra calories to fend off the cold!

Yeah, I know it is a regular stop for Alex as this is one of his properties where he does hog control. Apparently, the grower composts the unused/rotten/unsuitable pecans and uses them for bedding and soil enrichment for the newly planted trees. There would be a ring of this material around each new tree about 10 feet in diameter.
For the hogs, it must be a bonanza!

Lotsa pigs, thermal sights AND good friends with Girl Scout Cookies!!
Dangit Man, that sounds like good times right there. Taking out the pregnant sows earns extra points, too!

Good Job! Sounds like everyone shoots as soon as they hear "1" instead of waiting for zero? I'd have been late to shoot at least the first few times (until I learned the rules).
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Good work out there! I was out Saturday evening and a thick fog rolled into the graham area after sunset and I couldn't imagine night hunting in that soup. Your video is what I expected it to be. But, you guys were successful and got em. Good job on that! Who wouldn't love to have a pile of old rotting pecans as a pile of pig bait.
I just hope the hogs come back to my wheat field at some point so we can get out and do some shooting and not just hunting.

When I grow up I want to be like DNS. Nice shooting man.

Thanks! You gotta have targets to be able to shoot them. Then it helps to have a bunch of guys along with you.
