I know it's not all about the kill but it seems like if I were to hunt for cows nothing but horses would come in. This was last spring during a hog hunt at my uncles' place in the hill country...of course it wasn't turkey season.

When you walk in, announce "Sure am glad to be ______ hunting today." Of course, say something that you are not actually hunting. 
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I read a Patrick McManus story once where he recommended pretending to have left the blind without your rifle then when the animals show up to laugh at you pull a second rifle from under your coat.

Had that problem up in Colorado this past Elk season. Was covered in Mulies the entire time lol

If I'm sitting in the blind hunting deer I will have 30 squirrels running around.. Let me bring a shotgun or a 22 in there? No squirrels in sight!

I got blanketed in dove twice this deer season. Wife thought it was hilarious lol Take the shotgun out for dove and see 2 or 3 every hour. Climb a tree with a 30.06 to kill deer and sit there watching 30 damn dove lounge 25 feet away smh

I have that problem with hogs while crossbow hunting. I'll be sittin in a pile of brush waitin for my buck to pop out and I'll have hogs come within three feet so I shoot them and while the are flopping their last breath my buck comes in but gets spooked. I recock and shoot as many pigs as I can because they either hang out looking at the dead ones or start growlin at me. Turkeys get just as annoying,

I used to think turkeys were smart, but never had the fever. They will stand five yards from me watching as a pull my cell phone out to take pictures, then walk off. They must know they are safe around me. Same goes for wildcats.
