What do y'all know about deer and hogs out in Livingston. About to seal the deal on a little plot of land and would like to know what I'm getting into hunting wise. Thanks in advance

I live off of 190E. Polk Co. is a pretty deer dense area. There are, however, tons of hunters that travel out of Houston to hunt here. Polkcountytoday.com has a deer picture page with some pictures from deer killed in the county this season.

Hogs are abundant where there is a food source. I hunt on 89 acres and don't corn anything, I don't have a hog on my place.

I also live and hunt down 190 east in Polk county (Dallardsville), and we have lots of hogs and deer. Having creeks or bottom land with oak trees is always going to be advantageous, but not a deal killer. We run corn feeders but don't always hunt over them. Find active deer trails and place game cameras on them and bedding areas with trails coming to and from, especially trails that have scrapes and rubs on them and set up cameras to watch these. Deer density numbers will never match hill country deer numbers, but there are still plenty of them there. Just have to do a little leg work.
