Well when I sell my Ruger #1 and sako 85, I'm going to have my last custom rifle built.

Pierce Titanium action with LW bolt option, Proof Research Carbon Wrapped barrel, Jewell trigger, McMillan's new ultralight stock, yada yada

anyone run a Proof Research barrel, from what I've gathered over on the Longrange forums, they shoot very good, like REALLY good, just a ton of money.

This will give me my mid range hunting gun which doesn't weigh 10 pounds. 6.5 Creedmoor or 7mm-08, still working on this one..

So Proof Research Barrels.....anybody??

Never read anything bad about them, I'm considering one myself at the moment. How much weight do you anticipate saving over a steel barrel?

Hmmm I see a mountain rifle build starting to take shape.

I shot a Nilgia with a Horizon built 28 Nosler with Proof Research barrel. I ran a few different test loads thru it and all shot well.

I am considering a short barrel Proof Research barreled 22 Creedmoor for a lightweight Coyote getter.

Check out Lone Peak Arms for a titanium action. The smiths I use tend to prefer that vs the Pierce.

Also, if going short, like 16" you can still thread a Bartlein 2B for suppressor use. About same weight as proof and probably better chance of accuracy.

Just from research on what I plan to do for a LW custom rifle. I bought a Kimber 84m in the meantime, under 5lbs for a 6.5CM threaded.

do you remember lead time on your Lone Peak action? I have looked at them and they are very impressive.

When I looked a month ago it was like two weeks as he had actions ready, just missing some small parts. Call him up and order directly.

I had one on a 264 win...it shot pretty good, nothing special...3/4 in gun...which is good...they are pretty costly though...

I personally wouldn't spend over double what a ss top tier barrel costs but it looks like you are going top tier components across the board. It should shoot great. Good luck with the build!
