I've got a box of Hodgdon 50gr pellets that have never been opened-the box is probably 6 years old. Should they still be good if they've been sealed the whole time? Could they be dangerous? I want to break out the muzzleloader for a doe hunt later this season.

Unless they are sealed (air tight), I would replace them. Pellets will absorb moisture from the air in my experience. Probably not dangerous, but may make a difference in how your rifle shoots. I replace mine every couple of years if I haven't shot them all.

Usually, if kept in a controlled environment, they will last for quite a while. Keeping them in a garage or work shop is not good for them at all!

Keep the pellet box in a zip-loc bag with some silica packets and they will last indefinitely, I've got some that are over 4 years old that still work like new.
