any of you guys make mineral sites on your leases? I am thinking of making a few in the next couple of weeks. If anything should help with getting better idea of bucks on the ranch.

I use to use a mix of deer cocaine and other minerals when I lived in Indiana. Set up two game cameras to see what was around. Found out I had 3 different poachers working the land.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

We have done pretty good in Arkansas and Oklahoma with Trophy Rock mineral blocks. Once the deer find them (may take several months), they will keep coming back. Hogs seem to like them as well, so just an FYI. Sat in my stand in Oklahoma last year and watched deer chew chunks off a Trophy Rock. Quite entertaining...and noisy...

You can get a 50lb bag of all purpose mineral and a 50lb bag of salt for not much more that one of those rocks.

Tried the bagged mineral and a mixture someone was selling in Kansas, wasn't impressed with the results. Only saw a few deer each night go to it and after about 2 weeks, nothing was going to it.

I know a guy in ETX that swears by it and has the pictures to prove it works.

From what I have read, it depends on what the soil has already in it, what the deer are craving that they aren't getting naturally and what type you put out. But my knowledge is severely limited when it comes to minerals.

Good luck cheers

We just poured rock salt on a stump on my place in Freestone county and the deer and hog have nearly licked the stump into the ground. We have done this the last 3 years.

Sure couldn't hurt. I thought about trying it on my WTX place just to see if I got a different result, but have heard mixed results and never did. Might just try it and see what happens, not like it takes tremendous amount of effort or money.

My thoughts too. Probably cheapest easiest thing you can try
