Looking for reviews/recommendations on these scopes in the 6-24x50 and 4-20x50 models. I've used the Viper HS/T (or HS) and it is a pretty good piece of glass. Heard great things about the XTR II as well, but I'm leaning towards Veracity. The Sig scope looks really intriguing but no experience with anything but their handguns.
Will hopefully be mounted on a Weatherby Vanguard S2 Sporter in .270 Win. Want to use this combo to shoot the THF shoot in February and shoot out to 5-600yd at local range and if need ever arise, kill something at 300-500 yd.
Also, wanting the 20x or 24x models. 15x doesn't cut it for me haha, my current scope on my current rifle is 14x and I want a little bit more. All fall under the $1000 price tag at SWFA.com, and that's really the maximum I want to spend.
Thanks in advance.

Out of those choices I would opt for the Burris. Overall all of the scopes are good. However Burris is the most up to date with features. Optically I found it more favorable as well.

Thanks for the reply! Also, I did some thinking, and 6x on the low end is kind of high for a hunting rifle, right? The Sig TANGO4 4-16 seems the best bet for what I am wanting out of this scope. Any reviews on that as well?

Get a 4-20, best of both worlds. To be honest, 24 is far to high for shooting under 1000 yards. At the match last year mine never went above 12x.

I love me high magnification but I can see your point. The SIG scope isn't available in a 4-20x model but the Veracity is. I'm researching and really liking the SIG a lot, though Burris seems to have the top-spot in the THF community .

Links to the three models you're looking at? Part of the reason for 20-24x at 500 yds isn't just for shooting, it's for ID'ing what you're shooting. Is he 13"? Is that the big 10 or just a similar 8 that you don't want to shoot? If 14x isn't getting you there, 16 isn't going to make much difference.

Sometimes I will if I'm trying to shoot tiny groups at longer ranges

I don't think I'll ever be in the situation though, because we do guided hunts; any calls to shoot or not to shoot and which animal to shoot at would be made by the guide. I have the PST and love it. I think the GenII PST is going to be out of your listed budget, but I also think it's a step above the others you mentioned.
The Grey color of the Sig is strange, but I haven't heard a bad word about them. The ZERO stop seems to be a pain in the [censored] from what I've seen.

Do you ever get any of the stuff you ask for recommendations on? The kid can dream, right? Maybe one day when he's older and on his own he can keep his dreams alive when he's asking "what's the best scope under $200?"

Burris made some changes last year in a huge way, sometimes that not always a good thing. In this case it was very beneficial for Burris.

They are, however did you see he was putting this on a .270? I believe that his objective is to solely hunt with this rig. Perhaps I'm wrong, but out of the ones he opted for, I think he's on the right track.

chital, if you're looking to expand your range it would also be a good idea to look into the reticles each offer. A good MOA or MIL reticle ( with same turrets) is very useful at distance. P_102

Hey chital. You should cHeck out Athlon scopes. The Argos BTR comes in 6-24 ffp with illumination for $370ish (cheaper in some places) and it has a lot of features for that price point. good luck man.

I just bought a Burris Veracity 4-20x. Liked it better than the Vortex and may get another one to replace the PST I have.
