Anyone weighing their deer. Just curious what they're seeing for average weights of does, bucks, and fawns in and around Mills County.

We weighed 6 does from an MLD hunt, 53, 55, 57, 63, 64, and 69. That's post-gutting

We didn't weigh ours, but I would say they were of average weight. They didn't look skinny or anything like that.

I watched three bucks weighed on our place this season and all were between 140 and 145. This was before they were field dressed. Two were during the rut and one afterwards.

I've kept records of every deer harvested and dressed weight for the past 10 years. Average doe is 60lbs. Only a few fawns to record but 40lbs. Bucks, all combined and nothing younger than 3.5, 100lbs. dressed. Earlier in the year, the heavier because of summer forage fat and acorn mast fat. Our bucks lose a lot of weight during the rut because of the unbalanced doe numbers. Post mature buck we killed this Thanksgiving weighed 80lbs. dressed.

Anyone have any before and after weight averages in regards to supplementing protein? Not on protein, but my friend who went MLD saw their (harvested) does gain an avg of 10lbs and bucks 15lbs after two years of following the biologist's harvest guidelines. Removing mouths really paid off for them. Having seen protein-fed deer from my side of the county, I would say 15-20lbs is probably accurate on mature bucks.

That is what I have seen. Also, other environmental issues play into that as well, rainfall that year, mast production, herd composition, etc.
