Wow, I am so glad to have this mount in my house. Here is a little background: The bottom buck is a buck we named "The Freak." The first time we seen this buck was on trail cam. He had a 3rd main beam so he got the name The Freak. We never seen this deer in person in 2013. I found his sheds in the Spring of '14. He had his 3rd main beam broken off. I got lucky and found it 800 yards away. Crazy that I even found it. He was chasing a doe in November '14 and she led him right at us and I had a nice little 105 yard shot. He is my biggest buck to date scoring 171 1/8". The top buck is a buck I shot last year in 2015 we named "The Canyon Buck." We spotted this buck cruising around the ranch one morning and he quickly bolted into a deep canyon with his 3 does. A friend of ours walked the canyon and kicked this buck out. The buck came out and we had just a quick shot opportunity. We shot him and he took off running into the canyon he came from. We gave him 30 minutes and went looking. There was great blood for 100 yards then it went faint. We called the search off and called our tracking dog guy. He was tied up and would be awhile before he was able to come out. At this time the landowner took us up in the helicopter to look for him but we found nothing. The tracking dog guy came down and we looked for 1.5 miles and 4 hours, and we found nothing. Jeff (the dog guy and great friend of mine) was sure this buck wasn't dead. Fast forward 9 days. I go to that canyon and rattle. 5 seconds into my rattle sequence he jumps up and gives me a perfect broad side shot. Crazy hunt. We had hit him a bit forward of his right front leg and exiting in the front of his chest. There was a big 3x3' hole with maggots all over his chest. Crazy nasty. I do not have any sheds from this buck as we have never seen him before. This buck scored 170 3/8". These bucks are LF TX Panhandle deer.    Here are the sheds to the bottom buck

I love hunting up there. The drive sucks, but it the leas is done right it can grow some big deer.
