Went to check out a lease in Coke county yesterday. It was north of Robert Lee off of Bird lane. Has anybody hunted this area before? If so, what should I expect?

I hunted real close to there about 12 years ago and still hunt not to far from there today. Don't expect any giants. 130" is a upper end deer for that area and you wont see them very often either. Pigs are getting bad in pretty much the whole county. If the place you are looking at hasn't been over hunted you will see tons of deer.

Thats kind of what I noticed. Seemed like there were not a lot of pictures of big bucks from the landowner. Definitely more deer than where we hunt right now though. We are going to have to decide if we want quantity or quality. Are there any mule deer in this area?

No. From what I understand the very few Mule Deer in the county are usually found in the southwest corner of the county. And those are like a needle in a haystack rare!

I've been hunting in and around Coke county for probably 20+ years off and on. Hunted on the Tom Green county line years ago, and now hunt out west of town. You aren't going to get trophy's.

What you will get is deer. Lots of deer. If you want meat, you will be more than happy. If you want 125+" this aint your place.

Never see a mulie. And we may be the last place in the area where hogs haven't come in and stayed. We did see some, sign but they always moved out. There were 2 javelinas taken off our place this year, the only two ever seen out there.
