How far do you all recommend setting a blind away from the feeder when hunting? I was thinking about putting one in some thick cover about 75 yards is the max distance that I can see.

75 yards is good. I have a few at 75, but most are 100 yards, not much difference really.

After hunting put in west Texas I have really come to like 200-225 yd setups. Of coarse from high ground you can see much more terrain than in thick woods. That distance allows you to not have to worry as much about wind or disturbing an area getting to the blind. Of coarse you need good glass and good shooting skills but it's what I've come to prefer. Truthfully I think all terrain and all setups are created differently there shouldn't be a specific number you look for but instead what will work for that situation.

Nailed it! Too many variables for a generic answer....

40-100 yards, depending on cover.

Most of ours are around 120, but this year I set one up at 75 for the youngsters of the group that are just getting started hunting. The kids had a blast there.

You've got to take what the property gives you. On my lease, we dont have any stands closer than 50 yards, but no farther than 75 yards - but it's heavy brush and hard to get a shooting lane. If i had more open areas, I'd go for 100 yards - but as is, 45-75 yards is as far back as we can get.

At my two stands I've got one at 63 yards and one at 65 yards...just worked out that way with the brush and terrain. I was afraid I might bee too close and scare the deer off, but not at all.

As far as your skills and terrain will allow.

Same here. Mine is at 20 and at an angle that is generally favorable for the prevailing wind

I am a rifle hunter. Most of my stands have been in the 75-100 yard range. I don't know the distance where a deer could scent you. Unless it was not an option, I would not go closer than 50 yards.

I like the ease of access and being able to see long distances, but at 200-225 yards you lose shooting light so your hunt is cut shorter than a closer feeder. Bonus of having it at 200-225 is that you keep alot of people from hunting it grin

I like my rifle blinds around 100-125 but if I am in a rifle blind, most the times I have my kids with me. They don't see the deer as well at longer distances. I mainly bow hunt, and most my bow blinds aren't over the feeder. I typically set up around 30-40 yards from the feeder and use a chum pile to keep them close.

As was said, depends on personal preference and terrain. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer on this one cheers

We have my feeder set up at 40 yards away from my blind since we set it up for crossbows originally. The deer come in anywhere from 20 to 40 yards on the path and the top of the path where the feeder is goes left to right like a Capitol T set up. We also have a 100# tree hugger feeder set up 35 yards in the opposite direction sometimes. I plan on putting up a 20' ladder stand at 25-30 yards away from the feeder to bowhunt out of next year. If I had more room then I would have the blind 100 yards away from the feeder for rifle hunting. We are in a great spot on my buddies land where all the deer come in and out of the property so we won't be moving the blind anytime soon. If I had a field to hunt then I would go 150-175 yards out from the feeder and set up the blind on the tree line.

Mine are 143, 100, and 86 yards. All my sons/grandsons can (and do) hunt any of them. Some of the wives and girlfriends stay away from the 143 yard one but easily hunt from the 100 yard and 86 yard ones.
Skill with a rifle is mandatory for any one who hunts my ranch.
