Im going to give it a try. I keep telling myself there will be new birds in the flooded timber, but in the back of my mind I keep saying all the birds that were there this week have moved on.

I just hope im right and we see some new birds.

Definitely....DnB guaranteed me a limit and I turned him down....I'll be snuggling with my brown dog in the morning on the couch!

Good luck and be careful out there.

I'm thinking about it. I'm most worried about the road conditions in the morning but I think the ducks will be moving around tomorrow.

We will be posted up in the floating blind staying plenty warm. Haven't hunted it in a couple weeks so have no idea what or how many birds are in the area. Hoping the green wing teal finally show up.

If we survive the commute. 41 miles from my starting point 2.5 hours ago.

Only 64 miles to go.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

Is it road conditions, Friday traffic, or both?

I'm headed out tomorrow morning if I can get there. 100 miles to the honey hole, mostly Interstate. Surely we didn't get enough moisture today to ice everything up.

Very little ice on the road today and I was slipping a little in a few spots on I20 and I passed five wrecks in 20 miles. This was between 3:30 and 4:30 this afternoon.

OMG, 17 degrees right now! I'll be hunting, but I'm not in a big rush lol. Get to test my new underarmor coldgear. Wore it when it was 30 degrees and it was too hot. Trying to get my hunting buddy out of bed, but he's a big wus.

Gave myself an extra hour this morning. Roads were fine, didn't need it, so stopped at IHOP. Now I'll probably crap in my waders.

At least it will keep you warm if that happens!

I have traditionally always had lousy afternoon hunts. Are you hunting an area that regularly produces decent afternoon hunts or with this type of weather is it a day that should have more potential than most days?

I've not had great luck I the afternoons, either, but I don't do it that often. I was more concerned about getting to the lake and the fact that it's been very crowded the last few weeks (it's a small lake). I'm thinking that this afternoon will eliminate both of those issues, although I think pressure has been the biggest issue there this year, and I can't change that. I'm not looking for a limit today. Just a few birds and being outside is good enough for me.
