There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

We jumped the pond. No need for it. It's a long walk (run around for her)

Cause he's smart! He sits at the house looking out the window and waits till they are already on the pond. Then puts on a heavy jacket, grabs the gun and the pup. Makes 3 shots and is back in the house in front of the fire in 20 minuets.

Sounds like a heck of a way to go 3 for 3 to me!

Doesn't sound like much fun to me! To each there own ! What if that pond had 45 mallards on it! And u settled for 3 ducks! Congrats ruined a hunt that could be incredible just cause u want to jump shoot it

I agree with LIttlejr about not liking to jump shoot, but Aggie has his own place and can do as he pleases.. I've jump shot woodies off a creek before.. just isn't for me.

Yeah ur right ! I was seriously just curious what's the advantages was! I mean when we scout ponds, if they have 3 or 4 ducks, we check it couple days later vs jump shooting! Cause usually in a week that pond could be holding 30-40! Some of my best hunts have been working pairs of mallards an gadwalls all morning until 9:30 on ponds that the week prior had 3 ducks on it!

Yet if the guy said he was high topping ducks all morning! You would have had a problem with that I bet! But he has every right to high top a duck as to jump shoot a pond! I just don't see any good in it but that's just me!

High topping? You mean like throwing some shoes at them?

I know this pond, I'll assume you don't, this is a stop over pond never "holds" birds. Most I've seen is 8 birds and 2 were mergansers.

I've tried setting up on the pond and the birds show up early and figure out something's not right and leave.
