I am looking to build a high rig for my truck and I am looking for ideas. Will you guys post pictures of yours or suggestions you have. Thanks in advance. If this has been on here before I apologize I couldn't find a post.

Not a high rack, me and my partners jokingly call it the "Low Rack." I wanted something that one guy could get in and out of a pickup quick and easy, minimal fuss. Just hold it down with a couple of straps, 5 minutes in or out. Shooter sits in the chair with 360 shooting, light man can move back and forth across the front of the bed. With a good rifle mounted light a guy can call by himself as well.

I need to get my pictures in before all the guys with real high racks start jumping in.

it all depends on use. If you are hunting where there are lots of trees and low lying limbs, you wont need a high rack. If you are hunting open country out west, you need a high rack to see into the tall grass.

I have two racks. One for just playing around and one for contest hunting.

my playing rack is light weight that I can load it myself. It will accommodate 2-3 people and is small.

My contest rig is big and heavy. it will accommodate 4 people comfortably and has two shooting chairs and 2 shotgun/light platforms. Its made of thick steel because we do a lot of trolling on rough roads and the seats have to stand steady while holding a full grown fat man. LOL

simply put, each rack is going to be tailored to the folks hunting out of it.

I am out in west Texas around the Lubbock area. So flat open country. My family has a place around Menard and Junction so could be used both places. Problem is two totally different terrains as far as trees go.

Although height is beneficial, comfort and steadiness is more important.

This was mine, it's been sold. Just some suggestions... Floor should be as high as the cab roof, have a toe plate all around the floor so stuff doesn't roll off, have some sort of tray for calls, lights, etc., gun rack would be handy, padded rail if you are going to use it as a shooting rest.

Thank a lot I have been drawing some stuff up and looking around. I never thought about the toe plate thanks a lot. I am wondering if two boat seats off a bass boat wouldnt be the best seat options? I just need something that swivels and doesn't make noise and suggestions?

I was at a friends place the other day and he had a 10' tripod he bought years ago from Acadamy. The seat was off set, the pivot was under the front of seat, giving a small stand the option of standing to draw your bow on 30" base. Just food for thought. It was very stable and had been used for over 8 years. Wished I had taken pics of the way the seat was mounted to make it easy to understand.

Sure, most people use boat seats. Just make sure you have enough knee room between them.
