I eat them all other than merganser I chop them up and feed them to the cats but hardly shoot them... cans taste like ringers to me but really don't mind eating any of them just on how you cook them

I had skin-on gadwall breast after shooting one opening weekend for the first time. It was delicious.

teal and wood top of my list- Cans and Reds not bad for divers- rest puddlers about the same- we will pass on ringers unless EXCEPTIONALLY slow

i marinade them for 3 days so they are all good to me. I prefer not to shoot ringers because they are harder to clean.

Canvasback and ruddy duck were considered prime back in the market hunting days. I'd have to go with teal though.

Best three ducks I've eaten

#1 Canvasback
#2 Pintail
#3 Teal

I've cooked and ate it all different ways and by far the best is plucked and roasted with a red currant sauce...recipe from honest-food.net

Pintail from last season

I like Teal and Woodies best but any "Puddler" is okay by me. The main issue for any duck when it comes to taste is what have they been eating. Even Divers are tasty if they have been feasting on Rice or other grains. But you have to actually shoot Divers to discover that sort of thing and I let them pass. LOL

Best eating duck is the one sitting on my plate.

The secret to tasty duck is aging the bird before cleaning. A week or two in the fridge before breasting works wonders.

We ate canvas backs, pintails, malards, mergansers, and I think widgeons... they all were about the same to me. We later tried coots and found them to also be about the same.

You need to try woodies and teal.

My list would be woodies, teal, most others except merganzer and coots. Those go in chili or gumbo.

I like mallards. I make a whole boneless duck out of them and use the bones to make my stock.

I'd take any of them in duck and sausage gumbo.
