I'm in a country that has the 16 doe days in the beginning of general season.

I called the game warden a while back to make sure my son could get a doe in early youth season. But we didn't get a chance to get anything .

Is late youth season also good for does? I'm assuming it's not?

What County? If you have doe days in the general season does are legal in the late youth season as well.

Madison country. 16 doe days

So I'm guessing it's good to go. Thanks a lot. Very much appreciated

I know that in most AR counties with the late muzzleloader season it is legal to shoot does. The only problem I have with shooting does LATE is that you are in effect probably shooting two or even three deer - because the does are likely to be pregnant.

I like to shoot does EARLY (October) because I feel like I am reducing the doe herd AND not shooting a potential buck (fetus) by shooting early.

Not saying my idea is correct, but that is just how I think about it.

For AR counties with late season muzzleloader season: You CAN shoot does.

For AR counties with late season YOUTH season: They can use any legal hunting means during youth season - archery, modern firearm, etc.. - (except in select counties that are archery only). Bag is the same as opening day of general season. Which means that youth can kill doe during late youth season.

the above is from the TPWD web site and verified by Gregg County game warden.

Yep

Late Youth-Only Season:
  • In Bell(east of I-35), Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Freestone, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Limestone, Milam, Navarro, Rains, Smith, Titus, Van Zandt, Williamson(east of I-35), and Wood counties, the bag and permit requirements are the same as the period Nov. 24-27, 2016 for each respective county.
  • For the remainder of the state, the bag and permit requirements are the same as for the first two days of the general season in the county.
  • In a county where antlerless deer may be taken only by permit, a permit is required to take antlerless deer during the youth seasons.
  • Antlerless deer may be taken without a permit on all USFS lands during youth-only deer seasons.

I would call, here in Kaufman County we had our first does season and it was for the four days of Thanksgiving for anyone with a rifle. THis also allowed for youth during youth only dates to shoot does. WE had the early week and now a late 12 or 14 days and youth may take doe with rifle.

this is directly from the book. Seems pretty clear to me that you can take does.

There are actually 213 counties in the north zone and 30 in the south zone that have a late youth season
