Moved to Texas 6 years ago with the wife who was born here in Texas. I ended up getting hit by an idiot driver and had to get back surgery so I was down for a lot of seasons. I was finally able to get out and hunt off and on through the middle of deer season which was a relief. When deer season was over, my buddy and I went out for hogs and I got this descent size hog. We have a lot of big hogs running through the property but with my back being screwed up a little I decided to take a smaller hog. It was a lot easier to get down to the vehicles with the deer cart. My buddy has a truck on the property and a swing hoist set up that's going to make life a lot easier for us this year. I shot the hog right in the back of the ear and it fell over like it was scared to death lol. I put another round in it's neck right after to make sure it was dead. I put a Sniper Hog Light system up on the side of my 4x8 blind that shines on my feeder. The pic of my blind was taken early bow season this year. We cleaned up a lot of the branches for hunting this winter. For my hog hunting set up I am using my Tavor with an Armasight gen 2 Spear N/V rifle scope on it and their long range IR illuminator attached to the side of the rifle. I am using Fusion 62gr .223 SP's and they seem to do the job fine. The Jerry Miculek muzzle break kills all the muzzle rise on a Tavor and makes quick follow up shots pretty easy to do. It looks like a crazy set up but in a 4ft front to back hunting blind, it's easier to move around with. It's also easier to swing around on something when walking to the hunting blind in the dark in thick woods. I have another N/V set up on a 7.62x39 AR that I let my buddy use when we go for hogs. I use the Fusion rounds for that rifle too. It's a pretty good hunting round and their $5.00 rebates make it worth trying out. Recently I picked up some of the Remington Managed-Recoil 30-06 125gr SP's and shot them out of my Tikka T3X Hunter and the recoil is severely reduced making it to where I can actually shoot my 30-06 without destroying my back lol. They are supposed to have good expansion under 100 yards and shot under 200 yards. But they are not cheap and trying to find them in stock can be tough. Free pulled pork, sausage and bacon is awesome!!!!

Very nice. Looks.like a good setup. This is my first year hunting hogs and i set up bait and a game cam monday and hope to get out next monday to stalk in and hunt then check my cams. Hopefully ill be as lucly as you were.

Thanks. I am really happy that I will be able to go after the bigger hogs this winter since I am healing up. I have been feeding them apple flavored corn from Waller Rice Drier and Evolved Habitats Dirt Bag dried molasses thrown on top of it. I have a feeder remote so when I see them out on the field, I hit the button and they come in to the feeder to eat. We have a lot of hogs that run through the area and right now we have a good amount of hogs hanging out all day there. We have some nice size bobcats too which is great. It feels great to finally be able to get out hunting again. I got my first Texas buck last month using my crossbow. After wheeling it back to the vehicles, quartering it and putting it in the coolers for the ride home, I was stuck in bed for two days but it was definitely worth it lol. I am going back out during muzzleloader season and will hopefully be able to fill the rest of my tags. Here are some pics of the hogs that were caught on camera on my buddies property. There are a lot bigger ones out there but these are the pics I have on this computer.

Thanks. I put up some new cameras this fall and attached the moultrie modem to them. So now I can get the pics right from their website without having to drive out to check my cameras. Definitely worth the money. Camlock box makes security boxes for the modems too for a good price. Check them out. The blind was kind of noisy so I added some of those interlocking foam squares to the floor and put an outdoor rug over it. I put up a couple of those gun/drink holder shelves in it and made some platforms to get the seats up higher and hold them in place. I bought two of those PVF swivel chairs and they are quiet and really comfortable. Good luck on your hunt and I hope you get some hogs!!!!



Tried using one of the shelves that the blind makers company sells and it ripped right out so I went with these and some toggle bolts to keep them secured to the blind. So I had to patch up the hole from the other shelf lol.

My son wanted to shoot a hog off my place. He and his wife go to the shooting range 2-4 times per month. It was going to be his first pig. I asked (rather than tell) him where he was going to shoot it, you know they are tough animals? He said the neck. I said, you are going to hit a hog in the neck, shooting at night with nothing but a flashlight? He replied, Dad, if I aim for the neck, I will hit him in the neck.

Nice!!!! What rifle set up did he use. I used to get out to the range once a week but with hunting season on now I don't get to the range more than twice a month. I have to go sometime this week to fine tune the sights on my T/C Renegade smoke pole so I can get out while muzzleloader season is still on. Congrats on your sons first hog.
