Already put the shooting port to use.


Getting spray foam insulation, L.E.D. lighting, and HVAC. 9' ceiling height, 10' tall outside from the tin ledge. The roof will be decked with 3/4" plywood, then probably felt paper, and rolled roofing since it really won't get rained on. Gonna build a set of stairs to get up top. I can store self milled lumber to dry, and have an elevated place to hunt the north 30 acres from.

This will finish out the interior walls. Live edge down, installed like siding. A friend and I cut down, limbed, hauled, and milled the trees ourselves.

Didnt know there where cedars that big left around N Texas anymore, nice finds Jason, shop/office/blind looking good as expected.

Thank you Dennis. They were going to get turned into mulch so we had to go harvest them.

MULCH!! So many uses as the one you are doing for large cedars like that, heck, they even make cool cedar shake shingles/siding and a ton of other neat uses. Last a long time and have a great aroma and color.

The k you everyone. Today I got most of the 3/4" plywood on top, and screwed down. I'm really looking forward to having clean living quarters under HVAC, and with a bathroom. My family and I will get to take advantage of if very often.

That looks great. I would like to have a climate controlled shooting range!

No idea if this idea will work or not, but I have heard of people shooting through tires like a tunnel to dampen sound like a huge suppressor. Might be cool do something like that around the shooting port.

A family member did something similar to what rcintx said, but with plywood. He built a rectangular box out of plywood about 3 foot square by 8ish feet long. He then cut "baffles" to fit inside the box with a 24" diameter hole in all the baffles. Works great!

I believe I will build a huge suppressor for the shooting port. Al that sheet metal sure does rattle!

Let us know how it works out. I have always been curious about it.

Make sure to put carpet in your "suppressor". Not sure how much it'll help inside the shop, but anyone that may be outside the shop will sure thank you for it. That was the biggest reason my family member did his. His house is about 50-70 yards from his shop window he shoots out of. His wife sits outside on the porch while he shoots now.

I've got a large square of carpet. That is going to make me have to build the baffles of wood, instead of steel, so I can staple the carpet to it. Thanks for the tip!

I actually think that is a cool idea, I can see you getting rich selling a contraption to gun ranges just for that purpose, like a 12" pvc tube with baffles......

I ahot at a gun range that had used/broken concrete sewage pipes for the first 50 yards. No stray bullets and very little noise to the surrounding area. Dirt was piled on top of them and that's where the office was.

Always wanted the loading room on a range, looking good.

I have to settle for my box trailer and move everything from the house into the trailer. Drive to my shooting area, set it up, do a lot of shooting, break it down and come home. Man it is fun to get to make rounds and shoot them right then.

Come to Cooke county and get some.
