Looking in to doing some hunting between Hamilton and Goldthwaite for next season. Anyone hunt around here? Anyone have any game camera pictures of deer from around this area? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

Most of the county has decent numbers, some nice bucks, I believe it went AR a few years ago and that should help the age structure. Lots of dove in most years if that's an option. For how close it is to DFW, it's a pretty good hunting. Best of luck!

Kind of depends on the property, some areas are loaded with deer with a few good bucks (around Evant West towards Goldthwaite), some areas have much fewer deer, but some real good bucks in the mix. Some areas like along the river have good turkey numbers as well. Best way to know is through leg work on potential leases.

Pretty familiar with the county and have hunted several places throughout over the years. The southwestern part of the county, which is where it sounds like you're looking, can be really productive in numbers and also buck potential if managed properly. Also some great dove hunting, good spring turkey depending on cover, and some hogs, but not overrun.

It's all about location. Spend some time driving the area and try to meet some locals. Drive FM 2005 from Hamilton to Goldthwaite. You'll see how much the terrain can vary. Pecan Wells is a good area. Pottsville isn't bad but deer aren't as numerous. Some areas are covered up in hogs while others are not. Tip: go to Watson's feed store in Hamilton. Ask for Steve Watson and strike up a conversation about deer leases In Goldthwaite, go to Ranchland Feed or to Mills County General Store to ask about leads on leases. If you do end up with a lease in the area, I will be happy to suggest a few local establishments. Deer Processing, restaurants, etc. The Toddy House is always a popular landmark

It is my girl friends family land that I would be able to hunt. It is off of FM 2005, and it is very diverse from the cover it gives animals, I know that. It seems like I could be able to find some good deer according to what I've heard. Hopefully ill be able to check out the land this weekend but I appreciate the feed back, and I hope to be posting a picture of a nice buck in the future, even though were a ways off from hunting season

We hunt between Hamilton and Evant just outside Shive...Deer numbers this year was at an all time low in our area....Usually see deer every sit and this year saw a total of 5 deer all season....There are some nice bucks killed in Hamilton county every year just swing by the taxis and check them out....Buck in my signature was killed 6 or 7 years ago and was 19.5inch spread and scored 139 3/8....
