I was chosen on a state WHITETAIL anterless/spike/exotic hunt this month. From what I have read, axis deer like alfalfa. I bought some in pellet form, along with sweet feed. Baiting is allowed on the property. Any input on what axis prefer? Also bringing corn. Thanks in advance!

alfalfa, sweat feed, chaffhaye, over ripe mangos.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I have had them respond to corn as quick as whitetails. What state hunt did you draw?

Axis travel a lot. They are more of a herd type deer than WT. If the are around you will see them. If not? A few days of hunting in my opinion it is a hit or miss situation. What you throw out really doesn't matter. Good luck.

I don't have any direct experience with Axis but a good friend swears he puts out alfalfa in a bale feeder and it doesn't last 24 hours. Near Kerrville.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.

I have harvested several axis deer using alfalfa hay and corn at South llano state park, schrieners state park in Kerrville, and on private property. If I get an opportunity for axis deer and baiting is allowed, I would try to find some sweet alfalfa hay to put out with corn. Alfalfa has a very strong odor that seems to attract all deer.
