I saw him the first 3 days of season, morning and evening. My two boys were coming home from Tech Friday to hunt the weekend. I figured 3 days in a row, surely one of them would get a shot at him. Nope, never saw him again, just disappeared. I've done this same thing in the past, pass them up and hope one of the boys gets him and it has never worked out, guess I'm a slow learner! If you get a shot at a truly large buck you better take it because chances are you may never see him again.

Looks like his brother or offspring. Both super nice. Hope you or your boys get him next year

Nah, just a good dad. Don't sweat it. You got a great buck. Maybe he'll be around next season.

Those genetics may be narrow, but no bigger part than width plays on score, they make up a lot on MB length and tine length. Cool bucks!

Dude, that's not a deer. That's a hog with big antlers.

I agree with this. Amazing how that can happen.

Good for you for holding out for your boys, he'd have been mighty tempting. Looks like you took a nice one as a consolation, must be a dominant genetic out there. Those main beams nearly touch.

I passed one as well in November in hopes that a buddy who'd never shot a big boy would get him. But, he wasn't near as nice as yours. bolt

Been there, done that too many times also but if I aint' thinking shoot within first few seconds of seeing a big one then I know it was not what I was looking for and try not to second guess. But I believe that I would have shot that one myself. Worked out good for you taking a nice relative so that big one hopefully will return come October.

Congrats on the new year eve buck its a nice one, looks like the bigger ones son or nephew cheers

Funny being a parent and the things you do for your kiddos because you love them so much! I had a similar situation earlier and for the most part did the same thing.

Again very nice buck up

Both are nice bucks. Congrats on the one you killed. Tine length is impressive!

Long beams, great antler color & huge neck. I would've done just what you did - try to save him for my son. I'll bet he returns next season.
