Haven't been posting a lot of videos, between leaving my Gopro batteries at home in their charger cradle on my best hunt, to having it get switched to still photo mode the next hunt, to getting a batch of the crud that turned into a bad sinus infection over month of Nov...havent captured a lot of good stuff so far this season. I bought my college kid a nice drone for Xmas and we took it out on a hunt last week. Winds were supposed to lay from 15 to 20 down to around 10mph in the afternoon but it never happened, so we gave it a go on the last walk of the day in about 15mph wind. Some of it was too choppy because of the high winds up at 75 yards up in air, but did get one piece in a draw where two dogs were trailing a covey (with the 10 mos old honoring then stealing the point). They broke off in the video but when we circled back to the mule found them on the edge of a wheat field. My son was driving the drone but we figured out the "Follow me" capability the day after we got back and that will be really cool on future hunts. In the wind, we only got about 13 minutes of video time before it flew itself back to the controller and landed itself because of low battery. Don't know about you guy's experiences, but the coveys this year are surprisingly jumpy. The survivors that made it through 7 years of drought have passed on some kick arse genetics, without a doubt. Can't call the other dog into honor loudly etc. Makes videoing and picture taking tougher for sure. Anyway, I haven't seen any other wild quail hunt drone videos out there, so thought I would throw out what I had so you can get a feel of what it would look like if you were thinking about a new toy. If you didn't have a mule to carry it around, that would be a trick as they are too fragile to throw into a backpack or something. Not sure we have optimized the settings, looks decent on computer but youtube really distorts it with its current settings, but its not bad. Trying to talk him into letting his dad hang on to it for a couple of more hunts in January, but haven't closed that deal yet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOBB9Hk3NZ0&feature=youtu.be
