Just a deal alert I saw at their flower mound academy. Has open sights. Good kid gun/extra rifle. The .243's were $149. Thought someone could use a deal like it.

For $100, that's a no-brainer. I have an Optima Elite, and it's really not a bad rifle.

For $100 almost worth buying to throw under the back seat.

These do not always lock up well, this is the most common problem associated with them.

Close up the rifle (empty) and hold it firmly while you slap downward sharply on the barrel.

If it opens up, try another one. It it stays closed, that one will probably give you no trouble.

I've had one in the shop, where the customer wanted to know why his rifle popped open every time he fired it. - I was amazed that he fired it more than once, I wouldn't have.

CVA sells them, but they are made in Spain. Most returns are replaced with another gun, CVA has no in-house setup for working on anything except minor cosmetic issues.

The story that I get is that the good ones are very good. - Just make sure it that locks up firmly before you buy, and you ought to be OK with one of them.

Charles nailed it. Those rifles have been prone to that problem from day one. I'd pass even if it were free.

Very interesting, good to know. Surprised this has been kept a secret. Guess I just don't get out enough.

I have actually had good luck with the .223 model that I got. I put a cheap Nikon on it and its held its zero and for the price it fits the bill as a good truck rifle. Maybe I got lucky but my friend has had a good experience with his as well, also a .223 model. Maybe the high caliber versions have more issues holding their zero with the rings that come with the gun.

Are you talking gun or caliber? Think we already know your dislike of the 7mm-08
