I just bought a used Tikka T3 in 7mm-08. The magazine seems to bind up when I put 3 rounds into it. The rounds won't push down any further and I can't lock the magazine in.
I took the follower out, check everything, then put it back in. It worked correctly for a few times the binder up again.
Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? Also, the magazine length is pretty short. Even with factory rounds I'm almost at the overall length of the magazine. If I got a different caliber magazine would it give me a longer length?
Thanks!

Tikka factory mags only hold 3 rounds. You can send your stock to CDI and the will inlet and install their bottom metal and you can use 5 or 10 round mags.

When I put three rounds in the magazine it won't lock into my rifle. So I cannot carry my rifle 3+1 I can only do 2 + 1.

Contact them, and let them know. They may swap mags with you.
No, changing mags for a different chambering won't be a different Mag. .22-250 to .308 Win, and everything in between, is all the same bolt face, and magazine.

I would contact Tikka. I haven't had any problems with mine as far as capacity, but you're right about the length. I just loaded some rounds for my T3 .308 and my chamber wasn't even a consideration for OAL. It was 100% seating for the magazine, and that was just for 150's.

Give it a good pop when you insert it and you will be fine.

My tikka 22-250 varmint came w/ a 5 rd mag so I toss it in the bag as a backup or even a primary if I'm coyote hunting w/ the 7-08..
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

Is this an all plastic magazine? The older rifles had steel ones and were not compatible with newer T3 and T3x. Bottom one in pic is the newer style. Top two are older style.

Do they put the part numbers on the mag? If so, here are the part numbers... #S2401509 is for 204 and 223 #S5850372 is for 22-250, 243, 7mm-08, and 308 #S5850371 is for 270WSM and 300WSM #S5850373 is for 25-06, 6.5-55, 270, 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 WinMag, 338WinMag

Midway sells Tikka mags for $35 or so. I'd buy a new one and see if that helps. Especially since it is a used rifle. You never know what may have happened to it before you got your hands on it.

That happens to me but it is always the last cartridge isn't all the way to the rear of the mag and seated. I just push it back and it works fine.
