223 will work fine for basic hits (if Jason says it's ok on his steel). But if we have the spinner, a 223 or 300 blk out will not spin it. I have tried with the blk out, and it's just not enough mass to spin it at 200 yards. You will get the points for the hits, but not the bonus points for the spin.

It is fun and you don't need to be an expert sharpshooter to have fun.

I cant say as much as the tactical match out there, they make u sit on a roof to shoot then shoot at a blank piece of paper hoping to hit the bull's-eye u cant see on the other side.

I got a new detachable magazine rifle this year, hell I may shoot in it...never bothers me to put a dollar in the kitty

How would it work if me and my dad both used one rifle? Is that ok?

I may try to come out and watch you guys. Never been to a rifle match before, and it sounds like you guys have a good time at these deals. And fortunately it's not too far away from me.

Evidently, some are in this situation. I've got no problem with it.

2beez, you wont have a problem sharing a gun, when we pick numbers for shooting order just make sure you are in the same squad with your Dad and leave a couple shooters between you and dad so the barrel can cool a bit. you will really enjoy it, pray for a nice day weather wise

I have no idea what type of shot scenarios we're going to be dealing with. Is a big heavy barrel rifle that weights a ton going to be a disadvantage?

Don't worry about the scenarios. That rifle will be just fine. I had my doubts last year when I showed up and you can ask Big Fitz. I was shaking like a leaf nervous. I had a blast and that was the most fun I have ever had behind a rifle. 100-300 yards with plenty of time at each stage. Don't over think it

Yes, it is a lot of fun and no pressure. Everyone is friendly and eager to help. I had never shot at a target beyond 100 yds before I shot at JG's first shoot several years ago and have learned a lot and met some fine folks.
