Some time back I had the 223 rebarrelled, and I had ammo that was now too hot. I pulled those bullets and loaded them again with the new "good" load. The puller was an RCBS Collet type, and it made a mark of varying degrees on all those bullets. For a time I felt like there was little or no diff in accuracy between them and new bullets, but I'm changing my tune slightly. I had some big flyers that can't otherwise be explained. I believe those were a few of the more damaged/marked bullets.

Possibly. I have found that if the bullets are scuffed or otherwise SLIGHTLY scarred behind the ogive it makes little difference. Just think about what the rifling is doing during the trip down the tube.

If they are scuffed in front of the ogive that can be a different story.

Just my experience, YMMV.

I found the same after pulling a bunch of .17 caliber and reloading them. Accuracy is ok for hunting but not shooting good groups

I've pulled some of my personal match ammo and reused the bullets, but I kept them for close in shots or positional shooting where I didn't need a dead on shot. If you scratch them up and mar them some, they can be effected.

I've done it with some 8x57 JS rounds, used the Hornady Lock-n-load press mounted puller and it worked ok for hunting rounds.
