What's the most effective way to get rid of turkeys in your hunting area?

Why do you want to get rid of them?

Find the roost and scare them off the roost. They will eventually find a new roost hopefully away from your area.

The reason I want them gone is that there is between 60-90 birds. My feeder goes off and they beat the deer there and clean 12 seconds of corn off the ground in about 2 minutes, they fight, run all over the place and wait for the second feeding 1 hour later. The deer run from this as fast as they run from the pigs.

Kill them.

You ain't chasin turkeys off of corn. You may make them leave for a few days, but they'll be back.

I like the idea of busting them off the roost but didn't know if that was legal.

You can't shoot them off the roost but you can disturb them. Walking underneath with a spotlight should do the trick. With that many birds it will take a couple times or more.

We have similar quantity in Goliad, but I'd say 98% of them aren't smart enough to fly over the hog panels we have around the feeders, so not a problem with them competing with the deer. Can't beat turkey hunting in the spring either.

Looks like you have a way to pay for your lease.

That is one thing that has always puzzled me...why more deer leases don't sell or sublet their turkey's for hunting. Many lessees never visit their lease except during deer season. A couple of hunters could go along way to paying for feed and protein.

Yep 2 hunters $250 each will fill 2 corn feeders for a year.
