Will be in a stand in Collingsworth County here in a couple hours and in the morning. And advice for hunting on a windy day like today or am I just wasting my time going?

Time in stand is never wasted. Can't tag one sitting on your couch!

I hunt on the far northeast end of that county, and if the wind stops blowing I'm going to look for cover. It blows all day every day and doesn't seem to effect the deer.

I was once under that impression that wind is no good but no more. I had my 2 best hunts this year when the artic blast hit us. Upper 20s with 20-25 mph wind. Saw 27 the first day and 25 the next.

My best buck came on an exceptionally windy, hot day. 25 mph constant with gusts to 35. Hunting out of a climbing stand 35 feet up in a big pine. Stand was moving 4-5 feet as the wind blew. About thirty minutes before dark, wind layed a bit, and big daddy came strolling by.

Went out this afternoon in Parker County. Was windy but saw the most deer I have seen in several weeks.

Hunting the wind is usually not as good because they can't smell and hear as good......
