Planning on going hunting this Sunday-Monday. Buck season ends on Sunday. Will the game warden give me trouble if I am in possession of a buck Monday morning on my way home?

If it's tagged with a date during the regular season, no.

there are ways a game warden or anyone else could determine if a deer was shot yesterday vs today...use common sense and don't be stupid about it, but if the deer is on ice for an overnight, it will be obvious to the gw...

Ok thanks guys. Not looking to do anything fishy but don't want to get into trouble as wardens seem to be more troublesome with game animals then fish and I'm new to hunting on my own.

just be legit. make sure deer is properly tagged, license log filled out. game wardens have been around the block a bit and know normal hunting practice. if you're doing something that seems abnormal they will know.

there's a lot of bucks shot on the last day of buck season. you certainly wouldn't be the first or the only one.

Well buck season doesn't end everywhere on Sunday. Special Late Season, Muzzleloader and MLD properties still open depending on county and MLD. I like the positive thinking.

My rule is, avoid GWs at all cost, because they are not out there to catch criminals, they are revenue collection agents that are out to catch law abiding citizens who make one mistake. That is why they are out checking hunters during "Hunting Season" when it is legal to hunt. You know when you won't find a GW in the woods? In the summer when there are no seasons. No, they will all be out on the lakes checking fishermen. (Kind of seems backwards to me).

Here is the truth when it comes to the GW. You can be in compliance with 99 regulations, but if you forget one, or were not aware of one, that is what they will fine you on. It does not matter to them how many laws you worked hard to obey (proving you were not trying to break the law), they will search you until they find the one you forgot or did not know about and give you a fine for that one. It's best to just avoid them.

Wow. Just not true. I have had game wardens come into our camp several times and never had any problems. In fact, they have helped me with poaching issues. The game and hunting laws in Texas are not complicated - I have never had any problems being compliant and neither of my three sons have either.

Read the book and follow the law. Really not a big deal.

Depends on the GW. We had an azz hole in Palo Pinto County, finally got rid of him when he made captain.....

cheers We see them every year and typically multiple times. We welcome them into camp and are always respectful and compliant...oddly enough they are the same back. There have been a few tickets written over the years and there have been some reasonable warnings, but I never saw one wrote a ticket to someone that hadn't broken the law.

We had a jerk for a few years and he would look pretty hard for anything he could find but I sure don't put all GW's in the same category as him.

Based off his post above, every picture he has posted with his face covered and the sentence in his sig, I'd relax. He sounds a little...sovereign citizen.

When my son was four he hit one square in the nuts. He was messing with my son and let his guard down for a few seconds. His partner was a woman and she laughed so hard she snorted.

I have found this statement to be true anywhere east of I35! Up in King county the GW there is a nice guy, helpful and will actually write a warning ticket.

Respect goes a looooonnngggg ways. Yeah, you may encounter a bad apple from time to time, but you need to put yourself in their shoes. You can only deal with a certain amount of idiots before your patience starts running thin.

The rules are simple to follow. If you follow them you wont have any trouble.

Oh and just for the record I was checked by a game warden yesterday while I was fishing... in the winter... What?????
