Crossbow, never owned or shot any kind of bow in my life.
After seeing a couple nice bucks on trail cam in October, then going more to the Nocturnal side at start of gun season, I decided I wanted to try bow hunting next season.
Figured a crossbow would be the way to go for me. It's a Bear Fortus, it's a less expensive bow, but reviews were good and stated it performs like a much higher priced bow.

I'm not sure about the optics, don't know what the 5 horizontal lines represent in the scope.
Bought a practice block yesterday, taking it to lease tomorrow to start getting acquainted with it.
Any suggestions on what to look for while I'm testing bow out, what the lines in scope tell me, so on and so on.
Thanks.

Yep, the lines in the scope are for you to compensate for various distances. Most likely 10 yard increments. Sight the top line in at 10 or 20 yards and then use the others depending on the distance of the target.

One thing to remember about crossbows, if you plan on using expandable broadheads, make sure you use the ones designed for crossbows. If you use regular expandables, they tend to open up at the shot rather than on the target.

Kinda figured it was for distances, wasn't sure where the yardage began.
Don't know if it's 5 or 10 yard increments.
I guess I have to figure it out when I start shooting.
What distance should I start at when sighting it in?
What's the furthest distance that's lethal?
It's rated at 350 FPS.

What's the furthest distance that's lethal? Further than you should try on deer, pigs I have killed at 70 yards, want deer within 35 yards due to string jumping
It's rated at 350 FPS.

Hope that helps
