So I picked up a 6" neos today and took it to the range. It will fire the first round and chamber the next, but it won't fire the second round. I have to manually rack the slide to get a round to fire.

What's going on? I tried 5 different types of ammo and none of it would cycle fully. It seems like the striker spring is too strong for anything to cycle it. I'd prefer to fix it myself than deal with sending it in.

lube, lube, lube, slide rails, feed ramp, work the action back and forth a bunch UNLOADED of course. may just need more breakin time. If not sell it and get a Smith & Wesson Victory and don't look back

Worked it a ton. Lubed it like crazy after and worked it some more. If I rack the slide fast and hard its fine. When I half [censored] it I have to pull the trigger 10 times then it fires, exactly like it did before. It's got to be an overly stiff striker spring.

Literally almost bought the Victory but I figured the longer barrel would be nice and the $130 price difference could go towards a vortex venom.

Overly stiff striker spring causing it to not fire?

You claim it is cycling the second round into the chamber fine but failing to fire. This leads me to believe it's an issue of failing to go into full battery, weak return spring, weak striker spring, or needing to be broken in more which is most likely. Personally I'd go find the highest quality high velocity ammo and shoot 250rbds through it.

Did you clean out the grease from the factory before shooting?

Also, don't ride the slide slowly forward to load, let it go on it's own. Pretty much applies to any auto

Barring this not working it needs professional help.

Cleaned it fully. Bought all the high velocity ammo I could find.

Nothing cycles. I've been trying to get ahold of berreta since before Christmas with no luck.

That's my last Beretta.

I bought one about 5 years ago and it took awhile to get it working well. Out of the box, it was a jam-o-matic. After breaking it down, cleaning the crap out of it and then putting some grease on the slide, it started to behave better. After 500 or so rounds, it finally loosened up. The biggest issue I run into is that the rounds jam on the feed ramp. Early on, I took a dremmel and polished the snot out of the ramp and that seemed to fix that issue. However, I can always tell when it's time to clean it because the ramp jams will start to happen. I probably have over 5000 rounds through it today and it's a pretty good gun.

I broke mine in with CCI Minimags for the first few hundred rounds. That's hard to do today with the limited availability of different 22 ammo. Once broken in, it seems to work with pretty much anything.

Thanks,
Rich

Thanks for the info. Since berreta is no help I think it may be a missing pin from the trigger. Parts diagrams I have seen label it as 50 or 23.

My trigger has a ton of lateral wobble. I'll try to find a correct pin to use and see if that corrects it.

I found some 1400fps 22lr and it wouldn't cycle.

Have you tried a different magazine?

Yeah it came with two magazines so I've tried both. Feeding isn't an issue, it's something wrong with the action.

Last time at the range I did get it to fire by pulling the trigger 8-10 times after the first shot. I went through both mags like that then boxed it back up. Still had to manually cycle it half the time anyways. It was like I was pumping a BB gun to get a shot off lol

I may be misunderstanding what you are doing, but how are you pulling the trigger 8-10 times after the first shot? There isn't a hammer in the Neos, so it doesn't have repeat strike capabilities. Are you saying it takes 8-10 tries to get the striker to engage, or are you actually racking the slide through 8-10 rounds before it finally fires?

Thanks,
Rich

I fire the first round after racking the slide, then I have to repeatedly squeeze the trigger 8-10 times before the second round will fire.

The consistency of it being 8-10 pulls is odd

I think you are on the right track with the trigger springs. It sounds like something is broken between the trigger and the striker.

Thanks,
Rich

Where did you purchase it? Sometimes the shop that you purchased it from will work with the manufacturer and ship it for free. I have the same gun and had issues with it during breaking it in. Had to send it back and Academy did it all for me. No shipping costs either. Within 3 weeks I was back at the range.
