I was looking into purchasing a SAVAGE 10 FCP-SR .308 and wanted to see if any of you had any opinion on this rifle? It is on sale for 584.00 which seems to be a good deal.

Here is what it is that is for sale - SAVAGE 10 FCP-SR SHORT ACTION BLACK SYNTHETIC .308 WIN 24-INCH 10RD THREADED BARREL

What are your thoughts?

Had one, which was as accurate as any rifle I have ever owned. Really regret selling it.

I have a .308 cal Savage 10FCP with the 11.25 5R rifling and H&S Precision stock; and I absolutely love it! Bolt isn't as buttery as some other rifles but the way it shoots more than makes up.

Thank you for your posts. I think I will go ahead and get one!!!

I already plan to put a muzzle brake on it for the time being. Can any of you recommend one?

I have several different types of brakes and all of them work, but I think I like the Precision Armament M-11 the best. It's a good combination of recoil reduction, muzzle lift reduction, and aesthetics. Plus it doesn't have any ports on the bottom, which is important if you plan to shoot from a prone position.

How would you compare the 20in to 24 in barrel? I plan to get a muzzle break and eventually purchase a suppressor when finances allow.

If you're getting a suppressor go 20"

How much of a change in accuracy should I expect?

Barrel length doesn't affect accuracy (except when it is extremely short, like <10"). And one might even argue that you would see less of a shift in point of impact with a shorter barrel because it would be deflected less by the weight of a suppressor than a longer barrel.
