Warm and bright while setting up with the "Wolf Moon" out in force. Decent south winds would push clouds in. Steady, interested birds at legal with them turning into high flying, wary creatures. Hear some birds moving early. Eight minutes before shooting time one comes in and land away from the decoys then jumps. Three minutes later two land off of the point and swim to the left. Sixty seconds later one comes in and lands to the right with another one landing out front. More fly over. Two minutes go by and two come in and land further out off of the point. A minute later another bird lands to the right. Legal comes around and a single gadwall comes in and gets shot. When the other birds jump two more gadwalls get shot with one flying off into the field hurt. Two minutes later two land in the middle and immediately jump and fly away. Two more gadwalls come in two minutes later with one getting dropped. Twenty three minutes pass and two come over high and circle then fly off. A single teal buzzes in from behind a minute later and gets knocked down. Three minutes later three pass through high. A flock of honkers fly by six minutes later. A single buzzes through out of range sixty seconds later. Three minutes go by and four shovelers come in down the north shore. They take a peek at the decoys before going down in the lil tank. A sneak takes place and when they jump the three drakes get dropped as the hen bugs out. Some construction in the area is making quite the ruckus and the birds go pretty stale. A single passes through high about an hour later. Lots of dove moving around. Roughly fifteen minutes later two come in looking for pot hole before flying off. Nine minutes later three more do the same. Sixty seconds later two fly over really high. Five minutes go by and three fly over high and head off to the left. The back pond would get checked with it having a single gadwall on it. There's an issue with a Blue Heron and some cattle being in the way and the bird wobbles off into an adjacent mesquite field. About half an hour later five come over from behind and continue on their way. Roughly twenty minutes go by and five come over from the front. Three look to cup but all end up flying off behind. Got sprinkled on while packing up the truck.

The moon had it fairly bright out before legal...

Very mucky with lots of water from previous days of rain. Ponds were overflowing and still rising. Got in a fight with a bird while getting into the blind before setting up. Had some random activity in the area later in the morning that affected bird movement. Cloudy and warm this morning. Calm with south winds later. Begin hearing birds move around about five minutes before legal. Hear some more birds moving a minute after shooting time. A flock flies over high on the left five minutes later. Two minutes go by and notice a single on the water to the right out of range. Another two minutes go by before two divers buzz in from the right and circle a few times. Notice a bird on the water a little far out while watching them. It ends up swimming off to the right as the divers fly off. Two minutes later a gadwall comes in from behind and gets shot. It somehow musters enough moxie to jump and fly away hurt. A couple of flocks fly through the area a couple of minutes later. Sixty seconds go by and a single comes in from the front and gets shot. A minute passes and a single comes in high from the right and gives a look before flying back the same direction. Four minutes later a lone teal buzzes by from the front. It circles behind and goes back towards the front before turning back and landing off to the left. It jumps and flies off after hanging out for four minutes. Three with a couple of singles following behind fly through high eight minutes later. Lots of blackbirds moving through. Six minutes go by before getting buzzed by a single that was never seen. A minute later three pintails circle before being spooked away. Two minutes later a single passes over high. Seventeen minutes later four come over from the right. They split into pairs with two going out front and two going behind. The two from the front turn back and circle forever before landing off to the right out of range. The other two birds drop into the decoys from the right. Both get shot. The birds on the right jump and fly off. Ten minutes later a single drops in high from the right and get taken out. Seventeen minutes go by and a single passes through off to the right. Three minutes later a lone shoveler sails in from the right and gets shot. A single buzzes over right to left twelve minutes later. Three minutes later two come in from the right and land a little far out. The closest bird gets shot as the other flies away. Sixty seconds go by and four pass over high from the front and go behind. About fifteen minutes go by and four divers buzz through from left to right. A decent sized flock of divers fly over a little far out from the right and head to the left fifteen minutes later. Should have shot at them. Thirteen minutes later two sail in from the right and get shot. One jumps and flies off pretty far before going down. End up finding him chilling next to a flooded spot off in the middle of a field. Half an hour goes by and a single flies through the area high. Ten minutes later a single buzzes over from the left and circles before going down in the back pond. Another single buzzes over high from the left and goes right two minutes later. Three minutes pass and notice six high to the left. They head far out front. Decide to go check the back pond and end up jumping and dropping the lone bird thirteen minutes later. About half an hour later two come over from the right and circle. They end up circling each tank looking for a place to sit down before flying off back to the right. Some water turkeys pass through four minutes later. Thirty six minutes later a lone scaup buzzes back and forth from the right and then the left before heading off. Decide to call it about twenty minutes later. Had quite a few snow geese fly over while picking up. While taking pictures of the birds three come in from the right wanting in pretty bad. They circle a few times before two end up going down in the lil tank while the other bird comes back over wanting in and finally flies off to the right. End up jumping the two birds on the lil tank nine minutes later to finish up.

Bird tried to fight me when getting in the blind before setting up again this morning. Slow with a lot of random activity in the area throughout the morning that affected bird movement. Clear and fairly bright out while setting up. Mostly sunny and warm with south winds this morning. Hear some birds moving around twelve minutes before legal. Four minutes later two land smack dab in front of the blind while more fly overhead. The two on the water swim towards to point on the left. Six minutes later two fly over high towards the left. Two minutes after shooting time the two on the water to the left jump and head off out front. Two minutes later a single comes in from the right and circles a few times before landing a little far out. It gets shot and swims off to the right. Twelve minutes later, while giving chase to the crippled bird, a flock of dark geese flies by somewhat close. A single shot is taken with not so much as a flinch given in return. Notice four teal buzz the decoys while walking back to the blind two minutes later. They circle behind the blind and go back the way they came. Had some dove flying around eighteen minutes later. Eleven minutes later three gadwalls come over high from behind right. They circle out front before heading off behind left. Eight minutes go by and three fly through far off to the right. Five minutes later two gadwalls come in from the right and land far out. They hang out for about fifteen minutes before heading off to the right. Forty three minutes later two gadwalls come in from the right and land. The closest bird gets swatted and the other bird gets shot when it jumps. The dogs had fun chasing that bird. Didn't see anything moving around after that. Had a lot of water turkeys and pelicans moving through the area all morning.

This morning started out warm, clear and fairly bright out with decent south winds. It would turn mostly sunny with some thin, wispy clouds present. Birds were moving early. The first flock of the morning would fly by sixteen minutes before legal. Some birds would land on the water a minute later. Five minutes later a flock flies over off to the left as a bump six birds off of the water. Two minutes later a couple lands out front. Sixty seconds later four fly by on the left and two fly by on the right. Another minutes goes by and seven get bumped off the water as a single teal lands out front. Two more land to the left a couple of minutes later. Bump three off the water. Another minute passes and notice a bird on the water off to the right. Shooting time comes and all is quiet. Four minutes into it three teal come in from the right. Two get taken out with one shot. Another pull of the trigger drops the third bird. As the dogs were getting the birds a gadwall jumps from the right and flies away. Fifteen minutes later two pairs and two singles come over. They meet up and five of them go behind the blind as one goes off to the left and then behind and vanishes. Three minutes pass and a single gadwall comes over from the left and heads off to the right. It turns back and comes in. Three shots later it heads off to the right with it's tail tucked. About twenty minutes later after messing with something in the blind turn around to see two gadwalls sitting on the water further out with two overhead that go behind the blind. Then five come over higher from behind and break left. One goes out front and one goes to the right as three pintails circle overhead. They circle a few times before vanishing behind. Five minutes later the two birds on the water vacate the premises. Notice a single heading off in the distance three minutes later. Seven minutes go by and a single gadwalls sails in from the right and lands far out. Twenty seconds later another gadwall comes from the same direction but lands closer. It gets swatted as the other bird on the water heads off out front. Send the dogs to chase down the bird and as soon as they get back into the blind a gadwall passes overhead and goes behind. A pair vanishes off in the distance. Two minutes later a high flying pair heads out of the area. A pair of widgeons give a look six minutes later but don't commit. Seven minutes go by and seven pass over from the front. Then three gadwalls come back and head out front before turning back and landing in the middle. The scatter on the water but never get close enough for a shot. Watch them for awhile before the fly off roughly twenty minutes later. Ten minutes pass and four gadwalls buzz in from the right with two getting shot to finish up. A gadwall tried his best to come in while the dogs were picking up the birds. While picking up another gadwall tried to come in. The south winds were getting pretty stout when heading out.

Started out clear, cool and mostly calm this morning with very light north winds if any. Fairly bright out while setting up with some frost on the ground. The sun would warm it up for awhile before turning mostly cloudy and cooler with decent north winds. Plenty of birds in the area but all seem pretty skittish. Had gobs of birds coming in early from every direction while still getting situated. Decided to sit on the dam away from the decoys to start things off. All the birds would end up getting bumped off the water or leaving on their own before legal. Seven minutes after shooting time three teal land off of the west point. A cormorant would follow them in from the right and meander through the decoys. With no bird movement the decision is made to head to the layout on the west point. Six minutes later two come in and land in the middle. Notice a coyote on the base of the dam checking things out. See a couple of flocks moving off in the distance a minute later. A couple of minutes later three come in from behind right and land in the middle. They swim off towards the dam. Three minutes later two more come over from the same direction and circle back over the decoys. One gets dropped as the other bird circles then follows the other birds that jumped off of the water. A couple of minutes go by and see two off in the distance as five ringers come over high and keep on their way. Notice two real high and another high flock of four fly over three minutes later. Lots of steam blowing across the water from the south. Sixty seconds later a single flies high overhead. Notice another single fly by off in the distance a minute later. Then a single comes over somewhat high that gets shot but ends up flying off to the left. A few minutes later a pair from the right and a single from the left swap directions far out front followed by another single moving to the right. Eleven minutes go by and a single passes by high overhead. A couple of minutes later a cormorant circles as two fly off to the left far out. Three minutes later two zoom through high and fast. Two more fly over high eight minutes later. The wind finally starts to make a presence on the water seven minutes later as a single flies through out of range. Two minutes later notice a far off flock go down in a random spot. Three minutes later a small flock flies far out to the left. A lone gadwall sails in from behind and lands near the dam seven minutes later. Sixty seconds later notice four high. They circle and fly off then two break off and end up landing in the middle out of range. Nine minutes go by and one jumps and flies off to the random spot. Thirteen minutes pass and four circle high overhead then fly off. Four minutes later five more go down in the random spot. The birds left on the water jump and fly off five minutes later. Decide to go and check the back pond eight minutes later. Six gadwalls end up jumping with three of them getting dropped. On the way back to the blind two come in and land in the middle but end up getting bumped off of the water. Two minutes later three fly over high from the left. Five minutes later four fly by off in the distance. Notice five more off in the distance a minute later. They come over high the head out. Notice a single gadwall on the water to the right while watching them. A few minutes go by and decide to sit in the layout on the east point and bump the bird on the water up as three fly over high. Twenty minutes later two gadwalls come over from the right and circle back over the blind. Shot at and dropped the lower bird as the other flies off to the right. Five high flyers move through. Sent the dog after the not-so-dead bird and right before she nabbed it the bird managed to jump and fly away at head level with the dog in pursuit. Called the dog off and the bird ends up coasting down on an adjacent property. About ten minutes later a lone teal comes in from the right and lands far off near the north shore. It would jump and fly off the way it came not too long later. About fifty minutes go by and three gadwalls come in from behind and land in the middle. They swim off towards the west point. Eight minutes later two teal buzz over from right to left out of range. About fifteen minutes go by and two gadwalls come in from behind. The closest bird would take some shot and look like it is going to fly off to the right but turns back a bit and crashes through a mesquite tree and lands at the edge of the water stone-dead. After picking up tried to get the wounded bird that flew away earlier to no avail as it would pond hop before even getting close to it.

This morning started off clear, cool and calm. Had a bit of frost on the ground. Later it would become sunny and warm with decent north winds. Roughly ten minutes before legal shooting time the birds are moving around and start piling in. Some outlaws couldn't contain themselves and had to start in on them almost immediately. It wasn't long before other sheeple joined in. They either poached all their birds early, scared the birds off, or were scared of "the man" because once wardens were in the area the shooting shut off. A couple of minutes after legal the birds on the water are gathered up on the opposite bank. Three minutes later hear one buzz by behind but never saw it. The winds shows up a bit not long after. Four minutes later a small flock flies by off in the distance. Sixty seconds later a high flyer passes over as another flies off out to the front. A minute later notice a distant flock. Seven minutes pass and some of the birds on the water swim to the left as one jumps and heads out. A flock passes over high two minutes later. Nine minutes later notice a few splashes on the water and look up and see a single passing through high. About fifteen minutes later four of the birds on the water jump and head out followed by the last bird on the water doing the same two minutes later. A couple of minutes later a hawk checked things out right off of the deck. Four minutes later four gadwalls circle a few time before coming in. One gets dropped right outside of the decoys as another sails off into a field to the right as the others bug out. While working one of the dogs in the field two gadwalls (possibly the same two) come in looking to sit down but end up leaving. The winds starts picking up. Just shy of twenty minutes go by and two circle overhead. One comes in and lands far out as the other vanishes behind. Another twenty minutes go by and see three high pass through on the left. One breaks off and turns around and goes far out front to the right. Bump the lone bird on the water up when getting up to check if the bird that vanishes earlier was on the lil tank. No luck. Eight minutes later a single circles overhead from the front before leaving. Three fly high overhead twenty minutes later. Two fly off to the left and one goes off to the right. A big flock of dove flies through about ten minutes later. About five minutes later a meadowlark lands up close and personal. Notice a single pond hopping in the distance twenty five minutes later. Four minutes later two buzz across the water but were too far out. Decide to go check the back pond about ten minutes later but it was empty as well. About twenty minutes later two come in from the right but land far out as three pass over high. Two minutes later four come in from behind and circle with two going to the right and two going to the left as a single passes through. The two birds on the right come in and land far off to the left spooking the two that were already on the water up. Roughly fifteen minutes later two come over from the front, one high and one low. Never saw the low bird until it had already passed by. A flock of snow geese would pass through the area right before picking up.
