Looking at an older jeep 1991 , Just for ranch use .
What are your thoughts on a 4cy vs 6cy ?

If you never go on the road, the 4 cylinder is "ok". But on the road you'll struggle with it all the time. I owned one and will never own another. Most under-powered 4WD I've ever seen. Also, the inline 6 cylinder is almost bulletproof if maintained.

I have an '85 CJ7 with 4 cyl., big tires, lift kit, etc. and it barely has enough power to get out of it's own tracks. 4 cyl. jeeps do ok with stock tires. Personally I would look for a 6 cyl.

Depends on its purpose. I've had a lifted 4 and a 6. Both were pigs after lifting. The 4 has better gearing but if highway driving is a possibility and a lift 5th fear is almost useless. 6 has taller gearing most I believe back then were 3.07 which with a lift and highway speeds still pretty much loose 5th gear. Off-road I liked the 4cyl better because of the gearing.

I had last year model they made 95/96 i think and had 4 cycle. If you don't plan on putting big tires you will be fine. It's geared well in 1-2. After that it gets weak. 70 mph was a struggle on hills etc. If you plan on lift and bigger tires get the 6cycle, with bigger tires you may think about re-gearing even with 6.

I had a 95 model with 4 cy it did fine in town and off road But I wouldn't want to take a long trip in it
