I've been hunting with various rifles for 47 years and I have never experienced the bolt behind the trigger guard to just fall out before! I have rifles nearly 50 years old and have not had one fall out. Do you use loctite on these bolts? any issues getting them back out? Anyone with experience with this is welcome to reply. It seems easy but I don't want this to happen again!

The rifle in question is a Sako 75 wood stock 270.

Thanks,

Never had this happen to me, but my guard screws get fiddled with at least every couple of years. If you wanna loctite them, use blue 242 or purple (don't know the number) and you shouldn't have much trouble removing them.

Had that rifle been shooting okay?

If it's the action screw that came out, that's an issue. That can cause come accuracy and consistency problems. You need to check you action screws sometimes and make sure that are always tight and torqued to spec. I have certainly seen some rifles have loose action screws, and not tightened, can easily come out.

The rifle was more inconsistent than my son's Win Featherweight which was a 2 shot sight in each of last 3 years. But I tightened down a scope screw and it improved last year. But I'm sure now that this action screw tightening should tighten things up! Thanks for you input.

Chad do you use loctite?
