I've got a trip to Menard, and rain or shine, we're gonna try to put a hurting on the WTs, pigs, Axis, and Blackbuck at my buddy's ranch. Gotta say, the only thing I'm really disappointed in is that there won't be any "around the fire" time outside, as it's literally going to rain all weekend.

Really looking forward to some actual winter weather though. Might even, dare I say, hang a deer overnight after field dressing? Unimaginable.

Yeah, as someone used to hunting a blackland river bottom near Houston, the idea of 2-3 inches of steady rain terrified me. My place is like oatmeal when that happens in the winter.

My buddy's place is extremely rocky soil and he laughed that I even asked if we'd still be able to get around the ranch.

Yep, I'll be in Llano all weekend. That is, unless we get a whole bunch of rain all at once. If the creek across from the cabin floods, I could be stuck there for an extra day (Oh, the horror). It looks like a good steady rain in the forecast so hopefully it will keep the deer and pigs moving.

Leaving today, I'll hunt from this evening through Sunday evening, with a High School playoff game in between.

No, I no longer hate them enough to fight such heavy rain and cold.

Heading down Friday after work. Will have to park at the gate and walk in. I've shot a nice buck or two in the rain. Not thunder storms, but a steady rain. Especially when it lets up for 30 minutes or so the woods just seem to come alive with all sorts of creatures.

I am heading out to Castell in Llano County this weekend. Will hunt Friday PM - Sunday AM. This will be the first time for me to hunt in expected rain. I have always been lucky and planned last minute trips around forecasted rain.

I don't know what to expect when hunting in the rain. I am hoping to get lucky. Good luck to all this weekend.

I would be going if I didn't already have my 1 buck tag (AR county) punched. I've had good luck hunting in rain, as long as it isn't a really heavy rain. I'm gonna try to get all my Christmas decorations, shopping, etc. done so that I can head to the lease the next 2 weekends.

Hoping there isn't a whole lotta of lightning. That, I do not care for.

Headed to Sonora in Val Verde county this afternoon for the weekend.

Yep, hunting all day Saturday. Wunderground is forecasting rain until 2-ish and then "chance of rain" the rest of the day/evening. I can't wait to see how the animals react to the rain and cold.

I'd like to go out but am too worried about getting stuck out there, our roads get pretty sloppy. Plus the popup leaks on my side and the mattress gets all wet!

Three inches of rain just doesn't sound like good bowhunting weather. I sat in worse last year and actually saw a trophy class deer in the rain though. I don't think anyone else on my lease will be there so I may just sit this one out. Good luck to all that go.

We will be in the stand in Mills county. Will be attempting to kill girlfriend's first deer/buck. It has rained 2 of the 3 weekends we have hunted. She's been a trooper. It's her first season to ever hunt and I can tell it's in her blood. When a good buck comes in, I can hear her breath speed up. She had to wait til December to tote a gun per family rules since she's not technically family....yet?!? Regardless, I'm thrilled to have a gal who hunts with me!
