If you can kill a hog with a .177 pellet gun that goes 1400 fps at 20 yards and hit it in the brain do you think you could kill a hog with a .177 that goes 1200 fps at 20 yards?

Better carry one of these along ...... Just in case the hog gets:

Get a chrono , those sound unrealistic velocities regardless of what the box says.

I am sure it is possible with very careful shot placement but you are under gunned for sure.

Ha I would definitely be in a tree stand Yeah, but you have to come down sooner or later ........ Seriously, there are people who have taken large game with air rifles. It's all about velocity and energy delivered to the target. I can't see a 177 caliber pellet gun meeting those requirements. But then again, I don't know squat about air rifles.

I was curious because I saw pigman kill one with a .177 that went 1400 fps from 20 yards. Shot it right between the eyes and dropped it.

Yes it can probably be done on a hog 30lbs or less. But a .22 will do a much better job

I have killed multiple hogs with .22 mags, .308, 300wsm, 7mm-08, my bow but I have an air rifle and thought what the heck. It will be a challenge to get the perfect shot and the right conditions but I'm looking for that challenge

My point exactly, I find that speed pretty optimistic, gonna be loud as well with the sonic crack. Once those guns break in and the dieseling goes away I think speed is going to fall off. The heavier pellets shoot better in mine, H&N Barracuda's. I think they are the ticket, but were in the 850-950 range in my rifle.
