That would take alot of motivation! You must have a great imagination if you can pull that off(no pun intended) while up a tree alone. scared

I think I see the screws have worked their way out of the trunks of those two trees grin

Take pictures, call your land owner & tell him what you found. Contact the GW and let him know what you're doing. If no one has permission and if he agrees cut that crap down in as big a piece as you can. Haul it over to the corner and stand it up with a message attached. "You are tresspassing, GW has been notified. We will pursue this matter if you continue."

You have given him his one chance to correct this!

I'm getting the impression there is no border fence in that area. If so, is it clearly marked with signs or purple paint? Those details will determine whether or not the person can be prosecuted and could also determine if the person actually has intent to trespass or is just confused about property lines.
If there is a fence or it is clearly marked, I would prosecute with no warning if it were me (they got their one and only warning at the fence line). I have no patience for that crap.

All fun aside the law is that you cannot shoot or cause bodily harm to anyone unless you are defending yourself, another person or home. Simple trespassing in the woods is not cause to shoot or injure someone. But it is definitely illegal.
Tampering with that stand and making a guy fall 25 foot and wounding or possibly killing himself would land you in jail at worst or get you sued at best.
Call the GW and the sheriff. If you GW is like ours he will put up several cameras and even come sit and watch the blind until he catches the guy. It is their job to do that.

cut it down yesterday, left some up just to give notice that I found it.

gw not called, I think this was probably a bow hunter, pretty sure I know who it might be as well.

fence corner is about 40 yds behind the stand, no easy access so they knew they were trespassing when they climbed the fence.

most likely a done deal now, if I should catch them on the property the gw will be called and prosecution to the fullest extent will be pursued.

Since it is now cut down I would nail a no trespassing sign on the same tree.
That way when he came back he would get the idea.

I guess you should never say, I can't believe someone would that, as it seems someone always will. I just can't imagine either the balls or stupidity it takes to cross on to someone else's land and not only hunt, but put up a stand like it's yours.

And this is exactly why people continue to trespass. There was zero consequence for this scumbags attempt to poach. All u did was enable this clown to go do this to someone else. He learned nothing... barf

This.

While I agree in heart what if some dirt bag father placed his ignorant son in that stand and he gets killed or severely injured? While the dad would be at fault more-so than anybody in my eyes I'd hate to be the one who booby trapped the stand.

Handle these situations with maturity.
