This morning I moved the scope from the 6.5 Creedmoor to the 7 Rem Mag, since that is what I will be carrying all next week, mule deer hunting. I pulled the bolt on the 7 Rem Mag and bore sighted the scope to it. Hopefully you can see, in the pic, the bullet hole left, and low from my point of aim. Using the reticle, it measured 1.3 Mil left, and .3 Mil low. . . I dialed the scope RIGHT 1.3, and UP .3 Shot number two landed exactly where it was told to. I had to walk down to get the pic, I figured it couldn't be seen in a photo. . . Of course, it takes a good shooting rifle, a properly tracking scope, and ammo the rifle really likes. This was handloaded 7 Rem Mag, 180 gr Berger VLDs, atop 71.2 gr of H-Retumbo. Rem 700 action, Rock Creek "Light Palma" contour finished at 26", 1:8.5" twist, Manners T-4.

Now, you know the MIL/MIL scope had nothing to do with that...it was shooter and equipment. I did the same one a MOA benchrest scope just by shooting the first shot then moving the crosshairs to it (which this is MUCH easier to do when on a front rest and rear bag).
Good shooting and good luck next week! I can't wait for pictures.

Yes, yes, yes. Same can be done with an MOA scope too.
I wondered who'd call me out on that. Figured you, or jeffbird.

You forgot to mention it requires a good shooter too to do this in 2 shots.

Since I'm new to the FFP and mil/mil, here's my question. You measured 1.3 mil left and .3 mil low. Since it's FFP, it doesn't matter what the distance is (100, 300, 800, whatever) the mil 'measurement' is the same 'measurement', correct? I keep throwing inches into it (3.6" @ 100, 7.2" @ 200, etc) and I think it's messing with my mind. Using the reticle, it doesn't matter if you were sighting in at 100, 500, 900, whatever, it'd still have been 1.3 mil left and .3 mil low, correct?

Good shooting! I've never zeroed one in 2 shots, but I have done it in 4 before.

Since it's FFP, it doesn't matter what magnification he's on. SFP would need to be set on whatever magnification the reticle measurements were accurate for (typically highest magnification). Since he ignored absolute distance on the target and only measured the offset in angular measurement (MILs), then it doesn't matter how far he is.

Where is the other target you used to walk the shots in?
