if your gunsmith cant get a barrel off a vanguard find a new smith.
i think the main reason smiths dont want to rebarrel vanguards is the metric threading, they cant do that threading, not that they cant get barrels off.

I've also been told by gunsmiths that metric threads are the issue. I've never heard of Vanguard barrels being difficult to remove.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

I have both calibers, and like them both, but when I'm hunting anymore it always seems to be the 6.5 I reach for. Very light recoil and awesome performance. I've shot deer and hogs with both and they both perform very good, but the 7/08s mostly just sit in the safe nowadays.

There is also the Remington Managed Recoil ammo,
https://www.remington.com/ammunition/centerfire-rifle/managed-recoil
You gotta buy ammo anyway, get a box of these or Hornady and see what he thinks.

But if you are looking for a reason to get a new rifle I think you should get both the 7-08 and Creedmoor.
