Need to outfit a Tikka T3X CTR 6.5 creedmoor with a scope for a Christmas present. Trying to stay under $2000 for rifle and scope or pretty close. South Texas deer rifle. 300 yard max. Old man eyes.

The VX-6 are very good ...there CDS system works especially if you hunt a similar area with out major changes in elevation....camera land had there meopta meopro 3.5x10 on for $350...it is a great scope for that money. With a grand to spend there are many options today...

Vortex razor hd lh. Use code BFRS13 $695.30 to your door, thats unless you want exposed turrets. The glass is the same script as the genii razors without all the extras and the hs4 reticle has moa subtensions. You didnt ask about turrets or moa vs mil. http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-razor-hd-lh-3-15x42-riflescope.html

I believe the Burris XTR ii 3-15x50 can be found for under 1000. Currently looking at one for my 6.5 creed AR10 but really want the Steiner t5xi 3-15x50. Also a great scope but a bit more than $1000, although you can find some for only a few hundred more on snipershide.

Why would you need turrets when the max range is going to be 300 yards??

I can get you a great deal on a Steiner.. I have the 3-15 on my 6.5 and run the 1-5 on my 556 I recommended the LHRS because of the under 1K (and I have a 3-12 and a 4.5-18 illuminated) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p7jeoIF7oo

Ccoker, I'm sure it's a great scope. I have to believe, though, that precision turrets are not cheap and certainly not free. For a conventional scope that's not going to be dialed routinely I would want to have more value in the glass itself.

for a meat and taters hunting rifle used under 300 yards, it's hard to beat a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9. They have great glass, no turrets to worry about, and I've always found the illumination method to be extremely useful for hunting. It always seems to be the right brightness no matter the conditions, and you don't have to mess with batteries. And well under your budget.
