Well I outsmarted myself... had gotten a pretty easy limit the week before at one blind. However with the wind blowing pretty hard I decided to hunt another blind that was a little more sheltered.
Well, I watched about 10 groups bombard the other blind about 250 yards away throughout the morning and not give me a look! No matter how much i called or wished them my way. I hiked over to the 1st blind about 7:30 and grabbed my jerk cord rig. Then took it back to the blind and the decoy spread. The first and last group of ducks that came over that day zeroed in on the spread and with a few pulls on the jerk cord. They tried to drop in! I managed to drop one fat mallard drake to get the first mallard of the year for me!
Hoping the second split brings more birds!
