I'm sure this question has popped up a million times on this website, and I've tried searching for the answer. What protein do you guys put in your feeders? I would prefer to find a 50/50 mix with corn and protein. Any suggestions?

I use antlermax 20%, because that's what the closest feed stores sell. L/E makes a great deer protein also. I've never heard of corn / protein pre mixed in bags, corn / roast soybean mix is common & higher in protein than corn alone.
I wouldn't put protein in a spin type feeder, the whole point in feeding protein is for the deer to consume as much as they want, free choice feeders handle the pellets without clogging.

Behrend's down here in Luckenbach makes a mix (actually a couple) that never clogged up my feeder, but I don't know who'd have what up your way. Recently I've switched to corn+soybeans 'cause that's what Strutty's by my house sells.

I have a boss buck that has a spinner and free choice head. What does LE represent? I found some corn/protein pellet mix to use during the season from Walmart. I would like to find a high protein for when I use the free choice head during the offseason. Thanks guys!

L&E = Lyssy & Eckel feeds. Gorman milling / Red chain makes a good 20% deer protein.
Best to use whatever you can conveniently get, check feed stores that are local or on the way.
The first time you fill the feeder after installing the protein tube/spout, mix 1 bag corn with 1 bag protein dump that in first, then fill with protein. The deer will utilize the feeder/protein faster if the first 100lbs is corn/protein mix.

Yeah these options sound solid except for how I'd be able to get them where I'm located.

Shea, I've had decent success with the Wildgame Innovations' Pro Rack Plus sold at Academy for $8.99 for 40lbs. Molasses flavored and the deer liked it.

Yeah these options sound solid except for how I'd be able to get them where I'm located. Most feed stores & farm & ranch stores will carry some type of deer protein. There aren't any feed stores/ farm & ranch stores near your area or on the way to where you hunt? Tractor supply carries record rack & big tine. Purina antlermax 20% can be found at feed stores that handle Purina. Red Chain dealer outside of Terrell, I think it is Circle C.

There's a feed store in Canton I believe. I'll have to check it to find the L&E 20% protein. If not, I'll see what they suggest or buy the Pro Rack plus. Great suggestions, guys.

Shea I've used them all. Antlermax, Pro rack plus and a few local feedstore mixes, they all do well. The deer took to the Pro Rack Plus the fastest without corn. Could be since it's 18 percent vs 20 on the others.

I don't know the price on the L&E, but I assume it is substantially higher than Pro Rack Plus?

I will be a bit higher for the fact 50lb. vs 40lb. bags, believe L&E is 20-21% protein content and about $11-$12.50 a bag depending on where you find it. If you're doing it for antler growth primarily and attraction secondarily, the L&E or AntlerMax may be what you want to check out, if for each about equal or even attractant first, I'd go Pro Rack Plus first myself.

Mckinney Grain sells Record Max a mix of corn and soybeans. 50 lb sack sells for $8. This is my 1st year using it and bucks really like it. Have one feeder that they hit really hard. The does not so much they seem to eat it off the ground.

Buck Ration is another good one, go to there website and look for distributers they are out of McKinney. They have a 16% and 22% and will deliver if you purchase enough.
