I went to Oklahoma to a friends to try my luck up there for a buck. I haven't killed a buck in over 7 years. He only has 56 acres that is located next to a river. On the second day I got the biggest deer I ever saw in person. Unfortunately I did not find it until the coyotes got to it. There was not much left of him but I recovered the antlers and will definitely have them mounted. I rough measured them to be in the 160ish range. Not bad for a free range deer that only cost me some gas and a non-resident licence.
On the way home on Tuesday I stopped to hunt on 34 acres I had permission to hunt in Fannin county and got a nice 8 and a doe.
This is going down to be the best season I have ever had in 41 years of hunting.
