Carly is my good friend Tim’s daughter. Like all our kids she has been hunting with us on our ranch since she could walk. She is extremely patient and an accomplished bow hunter with horns on the wall. You definitely do not want to shoot for $$$ against her! On Saturday evenings sit one of the big bucks she’s been waiting on all season ambled under her tree right behind a doe and she put a Rage Hypo tipped FMJ in him. The stick ended up being a little high and a little back. When we got on the blood trail it was extremely thin with basically very small specks of blood so we quickly backed out to give him more time and to wait until morning when we would have better light to pick up the blood trail. Morning brought no good news as we only got about 120 yards until we could no longer find even a speck of blood. We backed out again and Tim asked me if I knew of any guys with tracking dogs or could I get on the THF and find one. We have been very fortunate to have never needed a dog but this is funny. I actually had a piece of paper I had written down a couple of guys with dogs in our area and thrown it in my truck console three or four years ago just in case we ever needed it. I found the piece of paper and gave it to Tim. The first name on that piece of paper was Troup Bishop. I looked up on the THF and saw posts with Troup in the subject so Tim gave him a call and got a hold of him on the first try. After a brief conversation Troup agreed to meet Tim in an hour with his dog Copper and give it try.

Long story short but this track job took so many twists and turns it would take all day to describe. Bottom line is after a two hour search and 600 yards they end up on a hill side with Copper wagging her tail and Troup turning to Tim and Carly with a huge smile on his face.

Like I said we have never had to use a dog but if we ever need to again Troup & Copper are our team. Troup is one of the most personable and professional people you will ever meet. And both he and his dog are equally determined to find your deer LOL.
