I am looking for an elk (and possibly mule deer combination) hunt for 2017 for myself and at least one other person. Could potentially be up to 4-5 total guys going on the hunt, but definitely 2 for sure. We are willing to go anywhere, but have talked about New Mexico, Idaho, Colorado and Montana specifically. Does anyone have any recommendations, or packages available for a reasonable price? We aren't looking to spend a fortune, just spend some time in the woods, have a good time and shoot some quality critters. Look forward to your responses!

I've hunted all those states for elk and shot my best bull on a special draw tag in Eastern Montana.

The best bang for your buck on public land will be the Wilderness areas of Idaho. You need to hire an drop camp outfitter that will get you ten to 20 miles into the Wilderness so you are not dealing with people, and where you will actually see animals.

For a better experience, but more money, private land on a large ranch in any of those states will be good.
