A few years back my Dad handed down to me my Great Grandpa's Marlin octagon barreled 30-30. It has a four digit serial number, and was made in 1893. The rifle is still in good shape and safe to fire. I decided that I would try to kill a deer with it every year for as long as I can. I was successful again this year. Not too bad for a rifle that is 123 years old. Hope my Great Grandpa would be proud.
Here is a pic of my Great Grandpa with the buck he shot. He is the one standing up on drivers side. I believe the rifle hanging from his bucks antlers with muzzle towards the ground is the rifle that was handed down to me.
