Last weekend, at this particular stand, saw roughly 10 different deer before I took a buck. All before 930.

Today I saw one small buck at 715 and nothing else moved. Its 1100 now and im throwing in the towel for the morning.

So, here is my question. With next to no activity in the morning, do you hunt the same stand that afternoon with the logic that theyve got to come....or give up that plot for the day and hunt a different stand?

Im real curious on your opinions because this question haunts me ...

Thanks

cw

Do you have a camera up in the area? I have had the same scenario, several stands to hunt from. It seems that I would always pick the rong one, stick with your gut feeling.
It's all about hunting.

It's not the stand, it's the deer. Could be weather or moon, sometimes they just don't move. Some of our stands are better afternoon than evening. Flip a coin.

Yep...it could be pressure. I know from taking my daughter this week that the Thanksgiving pressure really impacted deer movement!

I hunt the same stand morning and evening, but there are so many factors that affect deer movement at a certain stand. Wind direction, wind speed, temperature, precipitation, pressure/human activity, food source, moon, rut activity, predator, hog, livestock presence, the mood of the deer. You just have to use what you know and make the best educated decision you can. Everything may line up to be the perfect time to hunt a certain stand, you go hunt and nothing. Like Dalee7892 said, use your know.edge and then go with your gut.
