Could've headed to West tx but decided to stay home and chase our little paranoid hill country deer. Saw a nice ten this morning but he looks to be only four years old.

Now I'm sitting on an 8pt. He's a good 8 for this area might make 125

How old do you let your bucks get before you shoot one?

I try to wait till 6yo.

I shot the 8. It's was right at dark. I thought I missed him. Lumanock looked real low. Arrow smashed something...I thought rocks. I saw the lumanoc spin. It fell out on impact. I found a handful of blood and the last six inches of arrow 50y in. I went ahead and backed out. I'm guessing I hit a leg.

Yea it was too dark to be slinging arrows and it sounds like you are probably right, hit a leg. But hard to tell without being there. Good luck

Trailed that buck about 3/4 of a mile. He never stopped to bed down. I think he's going to be fine. Pretty sure I hit his leg
