I own a 57-1 (factory nickle) with a 8 3/8 barrel and it's a pleasure to shoot.

Get it. Get it now!
One of the most desirable modern S&W pistols out there and they are a whole lot of fun to shoot. More punch than a .357 without the bite of the .44.

Keeping it in the family is a good enough reason to get it. That said my brother has one and it is a great piece. Just wish factory ammo was more reasonable.

A 41mag model 57 is great gun to shoot. I have used one that shot sweet. They are hard to find.

The 57 is a great revolver. It's also a little different, being chambered in a not-so-run-of-the-mill cartridge. Mine has a 6-inch barrel, and I think it's just about ideal. I think I could live with a 4-incher, though.

It's something of an oddball cartridge, but at .410 as opposed to the .44 magnums .429 size it has almost the same punch with a bit less of kick. If you can match it with a marlin 1894 S you have a sweet combo.
